RECEPTION IDEAS

The wedding reception is one of the biggest parties you’ll ever give. We have some ideas that will help make that party a huge success.

Setting ideas: For outdoor late afternoon or evening weddings, drape the trees and shrubbery in white lights. Indoors, replace white light bulbs with pink or amber bulbs. Either casts a softer, more flattering glow. Group candles of different heights in a combination of votives, pillars and tapers for a romantic look as a table centerpiece.

Food choices: Why not rent a popcorn and/or ice cream truck for an outdoor reception. Rather that a serious dessert table, create a sundae bar where guests can choose as many or as few topping as they like. Offer an espresso or flavored coffee bar for guests who may prefer non-alcoholic beverages. A new trend is to have individual cakes made for each table, instead of a centerpiece. That way the guests can help themselves and you don’t end up with 50 centerpieces that you don’t know what to do with.

Guest Activities: In addition to placing disposable cameras on each table for guest use, consider renting a photo booth. Guests will be beautifully dressed and may wish to have some fun photo reminders of their evening as your guests. Each guest may have 4 photos taken and when the film comes out of the mechanism, they have instant reminders of the evening. With a little thought and planning, you can create a reception that is both unusual and fun.
